Having embarked on modeling in my younger years we were taught never to wear dark clothes when of dark complexion, and never to wear something too pale when we are of fair skin. The colors accentuate your skin color making it much more noticeable.
Thus you don't wish to look washed out you want to stand out!
Orange around the face hmm well in my opinion, not a good choice.
Orange picks up every fault around the face, so if you are heaviily lined I'd say steer away from this color.
Don't wear black around the upper torso unless patterned with some other color which is bold....
red crimson hot pink etc..
I find being of very olive complexion that white,lemon and pink are a must in my wardrobe. (Being female)
Dark complexions indeed CAN wear any color yet keep the dark color from the face, it will give a very sickly looking complexion otherwise.
Making one look more often than not, sickly.Browns and grays also are usually a no no in the modeling world for dark skinned people. Unless say accompanied by lemon or pink around the face.
White accentuates the eyes and if you are fortunate enough to have them, your rosy cheeks. Orange often, gives very dark people the appearance of having blood shot eyes.
In a man's case white shirts and soft gray suits are the way to go.
Or even a very pale lemon shirt will look fantastic!
Tan colored trousers or even white if you are game looks simply stunning.
If you've chosen a white suit..Perhaps
Accentuate with thin red or yellow tie. yummmm
Depending on the size of the person also, color must be taken into account.
White accentuates the hips and buttocks area so if you are a large framed female forget the white shorts. Go for pin stripes down the front of shorts. (Preferably black and white.) This will give the illusion of being slimmer.
Now accentuate with a white top and perhaps a red or lemon scarf.
For men do the same if you are large forget white and go black and white patterned.
Dresses? don't go white unless you are trim.
But if you are trim whites and all pastel colors look so good.
If you are large yes you can get black dresses but make sure they have white or another color around the bodice.
Large people with dark skin look terrific in all shades of purple.
If you are small forget it, you will appear drowned within the outfit.
Reds and burgundy looks great on dark people but if burgundy, again keep it from your face. Soft lavender is wonderful around the face it gives a soft
